About this collection

Howard Pinney was born in 1900 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and moved to Colorado Springs with his mother Cerissa in 1917. He was an avid photographer and gunsmith. When he began working for the Stewart Brothers, he was their firearms expert. Classified 4F and unable to join the war effort, Howard served as the general manager at Stewart's while the brothers were gone during World War II. During his career he also worked for AFGA and others travelling the four corners states and took hundreds of pictures throughout the area during his lifetime. He was a member of the Rocky Mountain Professional Photographers Association and the local camera club and wrote articles for the National Rifle Association. His entire collection spans more than 60 years and thousands of pictures.  Only a small portion of that larger collection, which is in the possesion of Howard's family, are presented here.  Howard passed away in 1980.
